Projet terminé : REHABIMED

Descriptif :

The RehabiMed project is a part of the european program Euromed Heritage. It was born as a cultural program after the Barcelona conference in 1995, which was aiming at the creation of a peace and prosperity area in the mediterranean basin.
It is a project coordinated by the Col.legi d'Aparelladors i Arquitectes Tècnics de Barcelona and lead by M. Xavier Casanovas Boixereu.

Goals of Rehabimed

- to reinforce the activity of rehabilitation and maintenance as a factor of durable development (social, economical and environmental) in all the mediterranean countries.
- to contribute in the improvement of life conditions for a large spectrum of the mediterranean people.
- to preserve the historical and cultural identity of the traditionnal mediterranean architecture.
- to create synergies and transnationals experts networks in the different fields of the rehabilitation and building maintenance.

Work fields.

I. Knowledge and methodology.
Development of tools, strategies and methodologies for the rehabilitation.

II. Training and knowledge transmission.
Diffusion of tools developed in the training activities.

III. Experimental operations.
Experimentation and demonstration of the possibilities and effects of a good rehabilitation policy

The rehabilitation conveyors

RehabiMed, through seminars and experimental operations, will focus its works on four main rehabilitation vectors :

- Rehabilitation and urban landscape : Lefkara (Cyprus).
- Rehabilitation and craftsmen : Cairo (Egypt)
- Rehabilitation and lasting tourism : Kairouan (Tunisia)
- Rehabilitation and social action : Marrakech (Morocco)

Aimed audience

- Politicians and administrative technicians at a national, regional and local level.
- Rehabilitation and maintenance agents.
- Professionnals : builders, craftsmen, university students and teachers, manufacturers.
- Users and inhabitants of traditionnal architecture.

Results

Realisation of a vast international research concerning rehabilitation and maintenance experiment on traditionnal architecture in the fields of legislation, management and technique.
Elaboration and setting up of a multidisciplinary work methodology for the rehabilitation and lasting maintenance of buildings.

Experts' training in rehabilitation, prepared for the application of the methodology and its diffusion through all the professionnals of the sector.

Organisation of four experimental operations used as a methodology contrast and training courses for the experts.
Various training actions, disclosure and debate on rehabilitation and maintenance.

Random editions of publications regarding differents aspects of the work methodology in place, and the interessant identified experiment.
