| Since 1987, the Ecole d'Avignon
has been engaged in a search for European funding for creating
networks. It has used programmes concerning training, culture
and new geographical areas, such as MEDA, PHARE
and Culture 2000, as well as inter-regional cooperation... The
aim of all of these projects is to compare practices, and work
together to produce common ideas, knowledge and ways of working
on the built environment which globally presents the same problems
regardless of where it is to be found (e.g. the CORPUS network
database with an index of 4000 pages in two languages on www.meda-corpus.net).
For most of these actions, it is in the
project design and management that the Ecole d'Avignon
has positioned itself.
In France, the work conducted, since 1989, in collaboration
with the SDAP (local authority services for architecture and the
heritage), and the Ecole de Chaillot has become a reference, and
draws a content outline of what could be, in the future, the practical
training - initial and further education - of heritage architects
in French-speaking Euromediterranean countries (France, Belgium,
Switzerland, the Maghreb, the Levant).
