Small ironwork hardware of doors and windows
This course, designed for ironworkers, locksmiths and woodworkers, offers a presentation of the iron hardware found on heritage doors and windows, with a view toward the reuse, restoration, drawing and production of missing or damaged pieces.
The course covers:
- typology of hardware found on old windows and doors, hinge, pivot, eccentic, latch, bolt,
- evolution of forms and techniques, in parallel with the evolution of window and door joinery,
- simple mechanisms of locks.
Participants will learn, in the workshop:
- forged nails (forms and sizing),
- chisel cutting of lock entry,
- restoration of door knockers.
