Lime plastering and washes
and their finishes

The undeniable qualities of lime in plaster mortar have led builders to use it as a binding agent for numerous materials.
Lime adapts well to all local uses of coloring and finishes, as well as to all the demands of decorating trends.

From the smoothest to the grainiest, whether they are smoothed over with a trowel or thrown with a broom, these plasters are fascinating with their extensive range of uses.

They are especially suited to restoration and valorization of heritage construction.

Program

A theoretical course and a slide show explain the different components of lime plastering and whitewashes, their properties and coloring compatibilities. You will put plaster mortars to use with different types of finishes: smoothed, thrown with a trowel, smoothed with a wooden float, thrown with a broom, etched, and aging techniques using sponges, felt, patinas, and touching-up.

You will also create whitewashes - lime, washes, engraved patinas - which culminate in the reproduction of a decor in which both dry and fresco techniques are used. This course is for experienced masons.
