Verdure,
imitation of tapestry

The art depicting tapestry in trompe l'oeil began during the early Christian era, either for economic reasons or for the pleasure of illusion.

In the 18th century, with the royal manufactures of d'Aubusson and Gobelins, it became an essential decorative element and it subsequently inspired a taste for trompe l'oeil tapestry in different forms: verdure painted on real cloth or verdure painted directly on the wall.

This art takes surprising forms, all full of charm and relatively easy to accomplish once you have understood its principles.

Program

After identifying the major influences and trends in a slide show, you will learn, by means of a collection of images, to extract and rework various elements to create a template, make a stencil, draw to scale, set the drawing on the surface and make colors.

After the creation of full-size samples on paper and canvas, a collective work culminates in the creation of a complete verdure of 10m2.
