Fausse moulure (faux moldings),
the shape of illusion

The simple straight line produces an infinite number of interpretations.

It is with this stroke, this underlining, that all --the depth, the relief and the magical illusion of a decor in trompe l'oeil is achieved, of which Pompei gives us a splendid example.

Whatever the skill of the painter in reproducing marble, wood, or sky, he must understand the principles of light and shadow before completing, with this skill, his most beautiful creations.

The understanding of faux molding and of lining will make him better aware of the principles of drawing and modeling.

Program

A solid theoretical approach - an analysis of light, a study of the profiles of moldings and their representation - accompanied by the screening of a documentary, will teach you to master the dry line and the softened line, to trace, to understand the effect of light, in order to interpret molding in trompe-l'oeil.

In addition to individual pieces on paper - panel of faux bois, an architectural element - you will create collective works on canvas - for example, a complete architectural work by Veronese and a complete frame molding for a painted sky.
