Faux bois,
one of the distinguishing marks of a decorator

No contemporary painter-decorator can neglect this technique.

Highly appreciated since antiquity, its refinement is fascinating. Although it requires a sharpened sense of observation and a rigorously precise interpretation, it remains necessary as that indispensable final touch to a project, in contemporary decor as well as in historical trompe l'oeil.

The painter will quickly learn to recognize and reproduce
the grain of wood, whether by free interpretation or realistic imitation. This knowledge will complete the range of skills that the painter will learn so as to be able to take on different types of work, including paneling, doors, and frameworks.

Program

Before you begin to practice various techniques, the course materials will explain the uses and the evolution of woodgraining in the history of painted decoration. Then you will learn to distinguish between species of trees and to choose the appropriate tools for each one.

To know how to determine the characteristics of each type of wood, to correct one's own interpretations, to glaze, to grain, to readjust one's vision in order to obtain results that conform to the selected model: these are the goals of this training course.
