Architectural trompe l'oeil

Architectural trompe l’oeil is a point of excellence for learning decorative painting. It encompasses all architectural elements: columns, pilasters, arches, balustrades, ceilings open to the sky.

Commonly used since the 15th century in the Palaces and Churches of Europe, it is a technique which the professional decorative painter should be able to offer, since it provides the possibility of opening up interior space and modifying structures by the use of images.

Creating an architectural trompe l’oeil will associate the discovery of linear and atmospheric perspectives, scale factors, the effects of illusion, the shapes and the materials for shade and light.
